|Good ways to learn outside of classes? |
Hey fellas, Im currently a senior SCM major and am about to take a global supply chain management course as a capstone to the major. The course has a reputation of being extremely difficult. I (Ralph) am speaking on supply chain network design using R and the Shiny visualization app. Another speaker will be discussing demand forecasting on pharma using R. As part of the meeting there will also be a callout for volunteers to help build the community of R and Python users in SCM. Hope that some on this sub can watch. |How is the work-life balance in your career track and industry? |
Non-native English speaker here. By supply chain I am referring to a very broad definition including sub sectors such as Export-Import, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Inventory/Purchasing and so on. How is the work life balance in your career track and industry? When thinking of work-life balance, some parameters would be flexibile working environments (flextime), remote work, number of work hours, the pace of the work, being on-call after hours or not and so on. As a rule of thumb if you as a single mother if its possible to attend the child's science fair or as a caregiver if its possible to take the care receiver to the doctor now and then--then there is a good work life balance. submitted by /u/Experimentalphone [link] [comments]

|Senior SC Analyst job offer - Company messing with me? |
Currently working in the equivalent to SC Analyst role. $90K base. Remote, MCOL. Likely $100k after ongoing reviews. Great feedback, expect rapid promotions and growth. Applied to a Senior SC Analyst at a F100 company for the heck of it. Also remote, but my "home office" will be SF area, no requirement to relocate. Was transparent that I'm looking for a unicorn opportunity. Very clear I expected $115-$120K base to both recruiting and hiring manager. Recruiter said the target range was $100-$110K, but the gap shouldn't be an issue. Weeks later - I get the offer verbally on a call - no documentation sent. $100k flat. No signing bonus. Why do they even bother? I asked over their target range in the first step of the process, they acknowledge it and continue the process, and they respond with an offer at the bottom? No sign on bonus either? Are they lowballing, trying to call my bluff that I'm not interested in leaving without a massive raise, or standard "starting their negotiation process"? I replied that $120K base and 10-20% signing is the point where I would start considering their offer as competitive. Supply chain analytics supposedly hot right now? UPDATE: Recruiter arranged another interview with the hiring manager. Seems like maybe they want to decide whether its worth jumping through hoops to increase the offer beyond budget. submitted by /u/Xiinz [link] [comments]

|EVSE availability/what to do with unused EVSE |
Hey everyone, trying to figure out what to do with our EVSE. We have a year old ChargePoint Home Flex NEMA 6-50 but we're moving out of the country for a few years and renting our house. Our renter doesn't have an EV so we're trying to decide if we should pack it up, just leave it installed maybe with the breaker off, or even sell it and buy a new one when we come back. Feels like a waste to let it sit unused for three years and it'd be great if someone else could use it in that time. It seems like they are in short supply right now, but I haven't seen much news on it. Is it just COVID-related supply chain shortages? I'm also worried about being able to get one when we're back, but if we do sell ours, I'm hoping three years should be enough for the supply chains to improve. Appreciate your insights! submitted by /u/BonChance123 [link] [comments]
