Is this even legal?
I work full time and have employer based health insurance through United Healthcare that covers me and my wife. My wife works full time and has employer based health insurance through BC/BS that covers her only. There was some confusion between her and doctors offices on whether UHC or BC was primary insurer. She assumed it was my UHC insurance, because our UHC insurance was first, chronologically (in other words, it became effective a few months before the BC/BS insurance). As a result, UHC denied a lot of her claims, saying BC/BS was responsible as the primary carrier. Most of the claims billed in error were resolved, however, UHC said they paid two claims in error. UHC is demanding that we reimburse them for these two claims totaling $200. The letter says "our office does not recoup or retract payments". They are threatening "further action" if we don't pay. I don't feel we should have to pay for their error. Is this even legal to demand reimbursement fr

Urgent care charging $350 for telling me to go to emergency room
Last week I dropped a weight on my big toe and went to urgent care to see if it was fractured etc. When booking the appt they let me choose the option - Xray may be needed. But when I showed up I discovered that location couldnt do X-rays. Ok great. The kind PA took a look and politely told me I would need to go to the emergency room across the street. A nurse came in, wrapped it and then gave me a tetanus shot. Now Im being charged $350 for the visit. Can I dispute this bill? Im on an Aetna HDHP in North Carolina and the urgent care location was in network. submitted by /u/lumicanis [link] [comments]

ELSS pause and Switch from Reg to Direct plan
Currently I have Mirae Asset ELSS tax saver fund and a Canara Robeco ELSS tax saver fund. I wish to stop one of them (keeping the money till lock-in but no contribution to its SIP) and keep the other one going normally. Now, I see there's an option to switch from Regular to Direct plan over MFCentral for both these SIPs Should I go for it and convert both of these to Direct plans? Will that be okay? Is it okay to pause one after converting to Direct or should I pause it before converting? How do I tackle the objection that the broker/agent might have on me since I'm converting to Direct plan on my own? Also, while converting should I select "transfer complete amount" or "transfer only units" over MFCentral? Thanks. submitted by /u/Super7uigi [link] [comments]

No In-Network Hernia Repair Surgeons? What do I do?
Hi all, I am a low income college student studying out of state covering all of my own expenses and everything. I have had a healthcare.gov plan and my first instance of using it has suddenly come up. 21, zip is 38111, income is $14k-18k per year (I have about net 2k per year based off my expenses since this goes towards all expenses). I actually had not set up my first primary care appointment, so when I got a kinda painful large bump in my groin I went to urgent care and then referred over to an ultrasound. I got an inguinal hernia. The urgent care place said they were going to refer me to a surgeon to talk about it / what to do surgery wise in the next week. My idea though is it absolutely will need to be taken care of, as it can become an emergency at any random point. Thinking ahead, I looked up the list of in-network operations and stuff. This junt aint covered in network at all!! I have built my whole plan of paying my monthly deductible so I can have a $2200 out of poc

Hello. Quick question- is Anthem BCBS retroactive? More in desc.
By retroactive I mean if I had a couple therapy sessions recently that I paid the co-pays for already but my policy became inactive due to lack of payment...and those 2 claims were denied but I made a payment towards my policy in order for it to resume, will Anthem retroactively accept those 2 claims? Or, will I have to pay out of pocket for those 2 sessions that got denied after already covering the co-pays? submitted by /u/Forgottenshadowed [link] [comments]

Better to pay medical expenses to Provider or to insurance company?
I recently had surgery, rehab, physical therapy, so a couple dozen claims show up in my United Healthcare portal (everything in-network). My max out of pocket is $6000 which I easily will hit. I have random bills from the hospital and providers, but none of the amounts match the claims in my portal. In this United Healthcare portal, there is a "Pay Now" button. Is it better to pay through the insurance portal, or pay the invoices directly to the providers? Thanks. submitted by /u/nycr [link] [comments]
