Educational Podcasts You Listen To
Inspired by the other thread about sharing more drug development content on this forum vs layoff posts, I realized one good way to do find similar content is podcasts. So what drug development/biotech/pharma/science podcasts do you all listen to, and why do you like them? I will start by recommending "Business of Biotech". The format is they interview a different C-suite person from a biotech each week and talk about their experience, career, current company/program, philosophy on drug development, etc. So different topics come up, for example, how a company was previously developing a certain asset and then decided to shelve it and pivot to a different asset-- what the thought process was and how they decided to go after a different target in the space. Not every episode is a homerun, but I've listened to a lot of good ones on it. What other ones do you all listen to? submitted by /u/Puzzleheaded_Soil275 [link] [comments]

IBRX - Institutional Money Potential and Good Plan Forward
NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE Got the go ahead from mods to repost this. Hopefully all going to be good this time around. As always, my intent is to stay within the rules so if anything is off would appreciate direct feedback! Thanks :) Positive of reposting is that I am not as rushed as I was typing it up from work... haha TLDR: Looking at a number of mature pharma companies their institutional ownership usually is around 70% (give or take). IBRX is just at 8% so there is A LOT of room for institutional money to flow in as this solidifies itself as a legit pharma company. Their investor presentation from Friday has all the markings of a company that has it's shit together and is ready for the big leagues. My positions (total of about $1800 cost basis which is about 1/3rd of my current portfolio and above my usual $500 per play target). Note: It was rather small going into yesterday and then I double and tripled down as I wrapped my head around this thesis, so I ac

The dreaded question, to MS or not to MS.
Hi All! Im currently deliberating whether or not I pull the trigger and decide to pursue a masters degree, would love to see what the opinions of some fellow biotechies are. I graduated a couple years ago with my Bachelors, Chemical Engineering. And have currently landed a fairly good job as Associate Scientist at a fairly large BioPharma company. As of now I have just about 3 years of Upstream/Downstream process development experience under my belt. And at this time is when im wondering if a masters degree would be beneficial to me. Ive done some research in programs and financial aid, and my company is only willing to put up 10k a year. Looking at ~2 ish year part time programs so 20k overall. I should also add I am fortunate enough to have no debt from my undergraduate. Finances are not too bad in the long run. But what is really holding me back is whether or not a masters degree would be worth it for career advancement. Ive heard some people say that in BioTech/Pharma it

I did a quick internet search and didn't find anything that I really liked. What is your favorite chemistry quote and who is attributed to? submitted by /u/Right-Independence33 [link] [comments]

Is it normal to have mold spores on your hands?
This is probably a strange question but I thought Id ask. I recently started a job as a microbiology technician. During one of my trainings, my supervisor was showing me how to collect fingertip samples using agar plates and he had me use my fingers. He ended up incubating the plates and one of them grew mold. Everyone on our team saw it and acted kinda disgusted about it and it honestly made me feel pretty shitty and self-conscious even though I know Im a very clean person. I know bacteria is present on everyones skin, but Ive never heard the same about mold. So is this normal or were they right to treat me like I had just taken a dive through a dumpster lol? submitted by /u/Character_Mail_3911 [link] [comments]
