Got my first internship in GIS - should I take it?
Hi, I am 23 and I just got my first GIS intern offer from a government agency. I graduated from a BS GIS degree 2 years ago and entered a masters program in geography. I worked on mapping animal movement during master program as well as animal disease modeling. This is the summer I graduate from master and thought of trying to apply for some GIS positions for fun. Applied ~8 and got 1 interview then my offer. The job is not paying good ~16/h but still higher than being grad student so Im happy. I do have a PhD program lined up after summer in environmental science about disease modeling. By taking this job I wish i can make some money as well as learning how GIS works in industry. However, Im not sure if this would help in my future career - I am planning on doing health GIS in the future. What do you think? submitted by /u/SadRobotno1 [link] [comments]

Is not trying on social media now seen as cool?
I noticed when I've added younger friends on facebook and instagram - they barely ever post on their news feed and almost never comment on a post. They post a little via their stories but thats about it. If you look at a millenials tagged photo section it will be in the 100s. But I noticed many of my friends in their 20s have like 5 or 6 photos. Is this the new style of social media, where they try to look like they arent trying anymore to share? submitted by /u/Famous_Obligation959 [link] [comments]
