Advice for which laptop to purchase while studying IT (Network & Security)
Hello everyone, so Im about to begin my first year of studying IT and I was hoping I could get some advice on which laptop would be the most efficient and reliable to use while studying network and security? I was after something that would be able to handle programming and codes and all that and possibly even some games if I ever wanted to but mainly just for school. I have no budget at the moment but obviously Im not trying to spend 3k+ but still something thats not too cheap and wont last me throughout the 3 years studying. I was just trying to get other peoples advice and insights on certain laptops theyve had and could recommend. Thanks heaps in advance! submitted by /u/dylngu [link] [comments]

Advice for first internship?
I just accepted an internship to work w/ a rural newspaper, covering 3 surrounding small towns (which I have heard is kinda par for the course in small areas). Im a student journalist, and an internship is required in my college to graduate. I really just need some advice about what I should expect for it; workload, how to pitch, stuff you wish you knew going in, that kind of thing. Heres some info I can offer up: $10 per hour at 20-25 hours a week WFH with the exception of traveling to cover stories and attend budget meetings (travel reimbursed, about 20 mins - 1 hour to get there depending on which town Im going to) 5 articles per week, some assigned for me and some I can assign myself (no coursework on my end, so itll just be this) Ive been working w/ student newspapers for 2 years but going into this is overwhelming. Any advice? submitted by /u/KhaosIncarnate1 [link] [comments]

25+ Payday Loans, Need Advice, All Defaulting
To make a long story short, im pretty young (early 20s) and got into online gambling and ran up about 20-25 different payday loan-type loans all under $1000. Some are tribal, some are legitimate lenders. I've completely quit gambling now 3 weeks without touching it today. I've also made some other life changes including stopping smoking weed, vaping, and going out with friends to improve my mental health and save money, but I really need some advice. I haven't been able to figure out a payment plan to pay these off but estimated debt is about 13k. I'm worried every day about getting sued for defaulting because I have no way to pay these off. I make about 2300-2400 a month but have potential to make more if I go in more. People have suggested debt consolidation but I haven't been able to find anywhere due to my credit being destroyed from this whole disaster. I really need advice if anyone has any on how I can take the first step on getting out of this mess. Not looking for insul

Advice on doing a showing for another agent?
I'm doing a showing for an agent tomorrow. We agreed on a flat fee per showing, and I want to just make sure I do a good job. My game plan is to be the turn-key mediator, showing up with a fair amount of knowledge (sq foot, bed/bath, and any amenities), and just be a comforting guide to the buyers. I plan to be nearby, but maybe not lead them completely. I want to have the lights turned on and just make sure they can find me easily if they have any questions. I don't want to do too much, but that's my idea of how things will go. Any input or advice you all can add? submitted by /u/ATLTopRealtor [link] [comments]

Tenant Refusing to Get An Attorney to Review Lease Draft
Im a relatively seasoned (6 year) retail leasing broker with both Landlord and Tenant rep experience. Im working a deal representing a tenant that Ive worked two deals with before, but on LL side. Just received a 40+pg lease draft from LL and my client refuses to get an attorney to review and keeps asking what my thoughts are. Im not attorney and our firms standard practice is to make sure the concepts/language and terms from LOI make it in the lease. We can give broad advice but for obvious reasons, dont get too in the weeds. After my review, the lease is very LL friendly. Tenants other deals were on form leases and they think since those have turned out fine (all 2nd gen, minimal TI, no permit), they do not need to spend legal dollars on review. Not a huge fee but Id hate to lose the deal. Any advice how I get my client to spend some money and have a RE attorney review? Ive already given multiple recommendations and stated clearly that my scope is limited to business poin

Advice needed!! Can I back out now
Hey all! I need advice here. So basically Im buying a house remotely from someone who does turn key flips. Were two days away from closing. I flew in to do a walkthrough yesterday. I was not pleased. Seller claimed that one unit has two bedrooms, but it has one bedroom and one is living room (whom he claimed to be a bedroom). The other unit he claimed to be three bedrooms, but the third bedroom is an attic that only kids can fit in (super low ceiling). The condition of the house is far from turnkey. Rotten woods in the exterior and interior windows. A bunch of repairs he promised to do but his contractor has not finished. Anyway, how do I back out of the contract now? I think I have plenty of grounds. submitted by /u/Prudent_Objective_71 [link] [comments]

Accounting Jobs for Ugly People
I am extremely ugly to the extent of being stared at with disgust by strangers and cashiers being rude to me and ignoring me as soon as they see me. People don't want to be friends with me or interact with me more than necessary. Networking will likely be impossible for me as well as building connections and impressing clients or job recruiters. Anything social will be a nightmare. I was thinking something low-paying with poor working conditions, maybe a small firm which experiences high turnover. Is this feasible? What kind of jobs should I focus on? submitted by /u/mentallytortured1 [link] [comments]

Advice on investing money
I recently have come into a bit of money $100k usd and I wanted to understand how I should make that money work for me. Im in my early thirties and have little to no o previous experience with trades, funds etc etc My brother recommended me to take risks with the money as I currently have no kids and real dependants or responsibilities. Ive just come across someone I know who is a trader and I wanted to give him the money in the following way: 70% to invest in day trading - aggressive strategy 30% to margin trade from Can someone please explain how risky margin trading is? Has it paid off for you? Shall I stay clear? Would I be better off investing the 30% in Treasury bonds?ETFs? Will the 30% be too little to get any real return? What is everyones experience? Could anyone offer some advice on other methods? One last question: are there any easy read books that could also help me understand trades/funds/bonds? Thanks in advance :) submitted by /

Festival of Genomics - Boston
I tried to create a post a day or so ago highlighting this event. This will happen on June 12-13 2024. There will be networking opportunities, workshops and a sort of job fair. I figured those of us whove been laid off and happen to be in the Boston area or can come up to Boston could coordinate and network in person at this event. There are free tickets available as well as cheap tickets ($25) for students/PhDs. I am interested in buying a bank owned property next to my property, any advice or experience?
This house has been vacant for the entire time we've lived here. I have no experience with any of this but it went up for auction a couple weeks ago for a starting bid of $140k cash only. I am guessing it didn't sell so now the auction website lists it as a bank owned property with a first look period and starting bid at 80k cash only for next month. The problem is we don't have 80k and I am not sure we would qualify as owner occupied even though we would live here and use the lot as part of our primary residence. We could definitely front a good portion of the cash and figure out a loan for the rest if that's possible. Has anyone done something like this or have any advice? It would be amazing to own the property as it would double our lot. I don't know if any of this is relevant but the lot doesn't have a paved drive, no garage and I'm assuming the house has not been upgraded just by how it looks from the outside so it would require a lot of work for someone who wants to live

Advice on getting into the robotics industry
Hello everyone, I'm an electronic and communication engineering graduate who graduated in 2019, due it certain reasons I had to pursue a career in web development for all these years and while I thought I had no issues doing it the last year has been unbearable for me. I am planning on doing a master's in Robotics next year for 2 reasons 1) I want to persue high education, my bachelor's really sucked so I wanted to go to a good college for my master's 2) I'm hoping having a degree in the field along with my skills could help me get into the industry even if my prior work experience was in some completely different. I just would like your advice in a few things: 1) Can I still get into the industry ? even If my prior wor
