In a surprising turn of events, venture capital firm General Catalyst , an early investor of companies like Snap Inc ., Stripe and Mistral , is on the brink of raising nearly $6 billion for tech start-up investments, despite the current fundraising drought in the sector. What Happened : General Catalyst could finalize its latest fund as early as next month, Financial Times reported on Sunday. The firm plans to utilize the new funds to invest in various sectors including defense, space, climate, fintech, and healthcare in the U.S., Europe, and India. This significant investment indicates that institutional investors, endowments, and foundations, also known as limited partners, are still willing to support well-known firms even amid a broader fundraising crunch. Advice on getting into the robotics industry
Hello everyone, I'm an electronic and communication engineering graduate who graduated in 2019, due it certain reasons I had to pursue a career in web development for all these years and while I thought I had no issues doing it the last year has been unbearable for me. Even though professionally I do full stack stuff I've been building robots and other hardware project in my spare time. I'm quite confident in my hardware skills, CAD, 3D printing skills and so on but I have no "formal" robotics industry experience. I am planning on doing a master's in Robotics next year for 2 reasons 1) I want to persue high education, my bachelor's really sucked so I wanted to go to a good college for my master's 2) I'm hoping having a degree in the field along with my skills could help me get into the industry even if my prior work experience was in some completely different. I just would like your advice in a few things: 1) Can I still get into the industry ? even If my prior wor

Anyone ever find themselves in a golden hand-cuff situation?
Im a non-CPA with 4 YOE after my undergrad who managed to jump to a base salary of 95k CAD with around 15k of staying bonuses. I know my situation is very specific, and I've seen CPA roles offering less than what I do with twice the experience. I've been with my current company for almost 3 years, but they were desparate to keep me because of high turnover. So they kept throwing raises at me. Fast forward a couple of years and the company's been bought by american private equity and an already terrible management team, company direction, and culture have gotten even worse. This place takes a heavy toll on my mental health and I've tried on and off to get out and find something else, but the raises kept killing my motivation and reasoning to actually get out. I started looking elsewhere again in January, but now the job market in Canada has gone to shit, and that paired with how I'm overpaid has made it difficult for me to make a lateral move financially. Do I just have to accept

Looking for 3rd party tools to expedite development
Hi all! I'm a non-technical Co-founder of Ketchup Now , a marketplace that connects mentors and mentees. We built an MVP using Sharetribe, but it's costing us $369/mo which is super pricey while having limited functionalities. We want to leverage 3rd party tools to make a full product as quickly as possible. Here are some of the functions I need: Landing page : displays a list of mentors and has a search function / CTA User management : need sign up (preferably with Google/Linkedin) and log-in as well as database function to manage information Messaging : we want mentees to be able to message mentors to ask questions File hosting: be able to upload/download resumes and courses Calendar/Video Call : planning on using cal.com which has calendar management/sync, video call, and stripe The most challenging part is #5 but cal.com basically takes care of it. We just need to figure out ways to build 1/2/3/4, leveraging templates/boilerplates (okay with paying

The app is substantially the same but with some small differences (not all features are supported, and some common features have some small differences in behaviour). Now, management wants to create two different build variants (variant_ES, variant_DE) and deploy two apks. I am not sure if this is a good idea. Please, what is the best practice?? Looking for a blogging partner in the backtesting/model building niche to build a blog and softwarw tools for day traders
I have a lot of experience backtesting investment and day trading strategies. This is a passion of mine and something I did while working as an investment analyst many years ago. I also have 14 years of experience in product management working on designing and building SaaS products with software developers. I'm looking for a partner to join me as we launch a new SaaS business aimed at selling to day traders and investors. Initially I'm thinking only blogging to bring in traffic and build a community. I'd like at least 50% of the posts to be about backtest results to help traders and investors understand the best investment strategies for their goals. After 6-12 months of solely producing content I'd like to start building a SaaS product that will be sold to our audience. TBD what the product will be, depends on what our readers actually need. I'm wondering is there anyone interested in joining me? I'm looking for a blogger as writing is not my strong suit. I'd still help genera
